John M. Clayton III, 84, of Forest Hill, MD passed away on August 1, 2015 at Wilson Health Care Center in Gaithersburg, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late John Morgan Clayton Jr. and Olga Jester Clayton, and husband of the late Nancy M. Clayton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired after a 30 year career at Bethlehem Steel. He was a huge Orioles and Ravens fan and had a passion for working on cars. For their dedication to community service, John and Nancy were recognized as Maryland's Most Beautiful People, representing Harford County. He was a member of Bel Air United Methodist Church for 50 years where he was active in the choir and the furniture ministry. He was also a member and ambassador of the Barbershop Harmony Society, and one of the charter members of the Bay Country Gentlemen. He sang with the Bay Country Gentlemen and Chorus of the Chesapeake for almost 40 years.
Mr. Clayton is survived by his son, John M. Clayton IV of Hope Mills, NC; daughters, Cathryn C. Heinbaugh of Gaithersburg, Jeanne C. Abel of Kansas City, MO, Barbara L. Clayton of Sammamish, WA, and eight grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Maradel C. Ward.
