John L. Higgins Iii

John "Uncle John" L. Higgins, age 71, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on December 15, 2013 at his home. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John Lawrence Higgins Jr. and Madeleine Frances McCunney Higgins. He retired after 40 years as an insurance adjuster at which he had his own business. He was a past member of Joppatowne Lions Club and enjoyed cooking and traveling to Atlantic City.

Mr. Higgins is survived by his sister, Madeleine F. Murphy and husband, Pete, of Abingdon; niece, Madeleine F. Hyde; nephews, Peter J. Murphy and wife, Donna, Thomas G. Murphy and wife, Dee, Daniel P. Murphy and wife, Sandy; 13 great nieces and nephews; friend, Sungwarl Allred of Abingdon and his cat, the late Biffy, that he loved. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his nephew, John L. Murphy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Peter J. Murphy IV, Matthew J. Murphy, Thomas G. Murphy Jr., Kyle L. Murphy, Joseph C. Hyde Jr., Stephen A. Hyde and Daniel P. Murphy Jr.
