JOHN JOSEPH BEM, age 81, of Bel Air, died at his home on April 22, 2003. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Mary Valuka Bem. A lifelong resident of Harford County, he was raised on a farm in Harford Furnace. He had worked at Edgewood Arsenal for 13 years as a pipe fitter. He worked at L & H Cleaners in Edgewood for 17 years. He was a long time member of Calvary Methodist Church. He will be missed by family and friends.
Mr. Bem is survived by his wife of 17 years, Wilma Virginia Bloecher Bem; two sons, John R. Bem of Fallston; Michael L. Bem of Aberdeen; step-son, Bernard G. Bena of White Hall; step-daughter, Bonnie G. Cook of Forest Hill; and seven grandsons. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother and three sisters.
Pallbearers were: John Bem, Mike Bem, Bernard Bena, Joseph Schroem, Danny Ragan, and Roman Ragan.
