John "Jack" Doran, age 86, of Joppa, MD, passed away on June 11, 2012 at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium, MD. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Patrick Doran and Virginia Lockard Doran and husband of the late Betty Elaine Doran. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during WWII aboard the USS Waldron DD-699, from March 6, 1944 to April 7, 1947. He worked as a swimming pool contractor for Maryland Pools Inc. He was a joker who had a very good sense of humor. He liked to fish, play pinochle, and loved gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels.
Mr. Doran is survived by his daughters, Sherrie Carr and husband, Rick, of Aberdeen, MD and Jamie Doran of Joppa, MD; brother, Donald Doran of Queenstown, MD; grandchildren, Brandy Kerr of Aberdeen, MD and Adam Pyecha and wife, Amy, of Norfolk, VA; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Kerr of Joppa, MD and Gregory Kerr of Perry Hall, MD. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, James Gist and Joseph Doran; and sister, Catherine Barto.
