John J. Kern Jr.

John J. Kern Jr., age 68, of Abingdon, MD passed away on March 21, 2013 at his home. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John Joseph Kern Sr. and Betty Marie Redding Kern. A Harford County resident for most of his life, he served in the Coast Guard Reserves and worked as a pressman in the printing industry for over 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 39 of Bel Air, enjoyed playing golf and watching football and baseball.

Mr. Kern is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lorraine E. Kern; daughter, Kristy Simmons and husband, Brian of Abingdon; brother, James Kern of Nottingham; sisters Christine Bazemore and Cindy Dailey of Baltimore; and grandchildren, Ashley and Hailey Simmons. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Scott Kern.

Pallbearers were Andres Maestre, Jim Kern, Joe Kloiber, Jeff Kloiber, Gary Kuser, Brian Simmons, John Wilson and Ronnie Cook.
