John Henry Reed

June 11, 1923 — October 30, 2015

John Henry Reed, of Bel Air died October 30, 2015 of Alzheimers at home. He was 92. Born in Nathans Creek, NC and raised there until age 10, he then moved to the Jenkins' farm in Pylesville, MD. He was one of four children of Arnold Reed and Pressie Wagoner Reed Jenkins. He is survived by three children: Donna Coale of Bel Air, Jeanne Wagner of Plano, TX and John T. Reed of Fallston, MD. He is also survived by one brother, Thomas "Pete" Reed of Kingsville. John was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Edna Delp Reed and one brother, James Warren Reed, who died as a child, and one sister, Geneva Stancill.

John retired from Edgewood Arsenal with over 30 years of service. As a young man, he was in the grading and excavating business with his stepfather, I.W. "Nace" Jenkins. He was past president of the Izaak Walton League and loved to fish and crab. He enjoyed bowling with the Hendrix Plumbing team, and especially loved touring in one of his many antique cars with the Brandywine Antique Car Club. He also worked with Brown Croft Farms over 20 years at the Bel Air Farmer's Market.
