John George Allen

John George Allen, age 75, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Forest Hill, MD, passed away on January 29, 2013 at his son's home. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late George Francis Allen and Anna Elizabeth Jurtinus. He was a 1956 graduate of the Old Calvert Hall High School, a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, and had worked as a purchasing agent for a medical laboratory. A former member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, he was a current member of St. Jude's Church in Lewes, DE. He was a member of a woodworking club and enjoyed making wooden toys for underprivileged children.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 42 years, Loretta F. Leyhe Allen; sons, Michael K. Joiner of Forest Hill and Steven C. Joiner of Joppa; daughters, Michele L. McKee and husband, Richard, of Bel Air and Candice E. Canale and husband, Jason, of AL; sister, Eileen A. Miller of PA; and eight grandchildren.
