JOHN E. VAN ROSSUM, SR., age 78, of Joppa, died at his home, on February 25, 2006. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Harry Ernest Van Rossum and the late Lena Pury Taylor. He was retired from APG where he was a sheet metal mechanic. He was a member of American Post 17, Edgewood and enjoyed metal detecting and collecting automobiles. He served in the Navy during WWII.
Mr. Van Rossum is survived by a son, John E. Van Rossum, Jr. of Abingdon, MD; three daughters, C. Cynthia Carroll of Bel Air, MD, Joanna M. Proctor of Joppa, MD, and Leona M. Van Rossum of Abingdon, MD; a sister, Madeline Langhirt of Stewartstown, PA; half brother, James Taylor of Ridgley, WV; a half sister, Louise Timmons of Linthicum, MD; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be: Shawn M. Carroll, Jared T. Church, H. Allen Dail, Jr., Joshua B. Dail, Joseph Heinlein, and Lloyd Gruse.
