Jarrettsville

John "Jack" Chester, 84, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away on February 28, 2025, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland.

Born in Annapolis, Maryland, Jack was the son of the late Benjamin and Hildegarde (Eder) Miller. He was the beloved husband of Lois (Atwell) Chester, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.

Jack had a deep passion for adventure and the outdoors. He dedicated his time as a volunteer at Eden Mill, where he enjoyed leading canoeing tours and helping to maintain the historic site. A talented photographer, he had a keen eye for capturing the beauty of the world around him, from people and animals to breathtaking landscapes.

One of Jack’s greatest joys was riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. He and Lois traveled across the country, always striving to visit as many states as possible on their journeys. He also had a love for scuba diving, both professionally and recreationally, exploring the waters of Florida, Honduras, and the Cayman Islands.

Jack will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of nature, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures.

In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his sons, Heath Chester, and Todd Chester; grandchildren, Tanya, William, Allison, and Megan; great grandchildren, Ariah, Archer, Colson, Paisley, and Jade.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his son, John Chester.
