John Carroll Drexel

November 16, 1928 — March 7, 2010

John Carroll Drexel (Jack) died March 7th,,, 2010 at Silverado Senior Living in Kingwood, Texas at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Faye, who passed in 1984.
Jack was born November 16, 1928 in Baltimore, Maryland to Richard and Agnes Drexel, and grew up with his three siblings; Peggy, Richard and Lorraine.

On November 29, 1945 at the age of 17, he left Southern High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he attained the rank of Private First Class. Jack served in active duty on the U.S.S Leyte until November 1948. After some time in the reserves, he was recalled into active duty in August, 1950 to serve in Korea, and ultimately discharged in July of 1951.

In August of 1951 he entered the Baltimore City Police Department as a patrolman, and served on the Police Force for twenty-three years and retired a Lieutenant in 1975.

Jack moved to Harford County Maryland in 1974 and started a new career as a real estate agent working for Grempler Reality in 1976. He later began working for Sherwin Williams as a salesman to new home builders and retired in 1988.

Jack and Faye loved Ocean City Maryland, and would vacation there every summer. Once their daughter Christina came along, those trips became family outings with many fond memories. Jack would steam crabs for crab feasts at the house with family and friends. He was especially known for making his homemade crab soup too.

Jack took up golf in his 60's, and was a true fan of his hometown teams. He loved watching the Colts, and often offered to work (police shifts) the games so he could watch them at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore. When the Colts moved to Indy in 1984, he refused to watch them anymore. Jack loved to watch and root for his Orioles and Ravens.

He is survived by his daughter Christina Drexel Bohli, and her husband Robert; grandsons Andrew and Matthew Bohli; by his sisters Peggy Hechler and Lorraine Daly; three nieces and four nephews.
