John Calvin "Chick" Beers, age 83, of Airville, PA, died on March 4, 2009 at Forest Hill Health and Rehabilitation in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Madera, PA, he was the son of the late John Howard and Ruth P. Beers. A carpenter by trade, he had been employed as a heavy equipment operator in his early years, and then later specialized in millwork. He loved the outdoors and fishing, as well as, cutting the grass and helping his neighbors. He had a fascination with wheels, including cars, trucks, RV's, and even lawn mowers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a former resident of Joppa, living there for forty years.
Mr. Beers is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vivian Marie Dufour Beers of Airville, PA; daughters, Darlene Taylor and husband, Paul, and Phyllis Long and husband, Ron, all of Bel Air, MD; brother, Larry Beers of Pennsylvania; sister, Lois Burdette of Georgia; grandchildren, Jane Zinser and husband, Ray, Charlene Reed, Jason Long and wife, Janel, and Nathan Long and wife, Heather; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Fortney, Christopher Zinser and wife, Pam, Nicole Zinser, Kevin Zinser, Derek Reed, Emily Reed, Chelcee Long, and Violet Long.
Pallbearers were Jason Long, Nathan Long, Ron Long, Ray Zinser, Kevin Zinser, and Larry Beers.
