John C. Wiegand, age 70, of Abingdon, MD, died on July 31, 2011 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Rosedale, MD, he was the son of Elizabeth Regina Darney King and the late John Conrad Wiegand Sr. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was operating engineer for Local #37 for 17 years, helped to build the Fort McHenry Tunnel, and owned and operated John Wiegand Bail Bonds and Harford Bureau of Investigation for 30 years until retiring in 2006. A Harford county resident for most of his life, he enjoyed investing in and tracking the stock market on a daily basis, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Wiegand is survived by his wife of 46 years, Delores Jean Wiegand of Abingdon, MD; son, John C. Wiegand III of Whiteford, MD; brother, Frederick C. Wiegand of Fawn Grove, MD; sisters, Betty J. Singleton of Churchville, MD and Barbara Hayden of Kingsville, MD; and grandchildren, Joshua R., Jourdan T. and Jacob C. Wiegand. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his son, Roy M. Wiegand.
Pallbearers will be John Wiegand III, Joshua, Jourdan, Jacob, Chuck and Fred Wiegand.
