John Phillip Brooks

John Phillip Brooks, age 82, of Belcamp, Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at Accent Care @ Franklin Square in Rosedale, Maryland.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, John was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Roop) Brooks and the beloved husband of the late Sharon (Collison) Brooks. He is survived by his life partner Marilou Yost of 20 years. A man of strong faith and community spirit, John was an active member of the Jaycees, Kairos Ministries, and the Emmaus Christian Group, where he found friendship, purpose, and the opportunity to serve others.

John had a passion for collecting model trains and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether singing karaoke, working on home improvement projects, or challenging someone to a thoughtful game of chess, he brought warmth and enthusiasm to all he did. He especially loved country drives and spending quality time with his family, who brought him immense pride and happiness.

John will be remembered for his kind heart, his playful sense of humor, and his unwavering love for those around him. He received his heart from James Carter via transplant in 2013 and to this day John stayed close with his mother, Lagwen Turner and her family.

John is survived by his sons,

and his daughters, Lisa Michele (Richard Cantu) Beall,

Belinda Lee (David Goodhart) Farmer,

and Aimee (Clayton) Sann,

twenty-one grandchildren.

and thirteen great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, siblings and wife, he was preceded in death by his son John Patrick (Sharon) Brooks.
