John Braxton Leary, age 95, of Cockeysville, MD passed away on April 14, 2019 at Forest Hill Heights in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Richmond, VA, he was the son of Charles William and Lillie May (Hewitt) Leary and husband of the late Myrtle Cloteal (Coulter) Leary. He graduated from Belington High School in 1942. He later went on to Davis and Elkins College, where he received his Bachelor's Degree. After he graduated from High School, he attended the Merchant Marine Academy. He was a Veteran of the Merchant Marines for two years, during World War II. He taught at 6th District Elementary for 5 years and then at Hereford High School for 24 years, where he was the Social Studies Department Chairman. He enjoyed traveling, genealogy, and playing computer games. He was the primary caregiver to his late wife Myrtle in her last years and they were married for sixty-eight years.
Mr. Leary is survived by son, Charles Edward Leary of Fallston and his wife, Peggy; two grandchildren, Brian Leary and Erin Crissman; two brothers, James and Edward Leary.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Francis, Robert, and Leslie Leary.
