Joe Diseta

March 19, 1916 — July 26, 2007

JOE DiSETA, age 91, of Bel Air, MD, died on July 26, 2007 at Forest Hill Mariner, Forest Hill, MD. One of four children, he was born and raised in Little Italy, MD, the son of the late Phillip and Fannie Barone DiSeta. He was a member of St. Leo the Great parish where he also attended grade school. He graduated from City College and then attended The Maryland Institute of Art for a short time before leaving to go to work. From 1935 to 1936 he was part of the Civilian Conservation Corp. a government group that constructed Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Forest. In November 1939 he married the former Elizabeth Rose and spent 46 wonderful years together before her death in 1986. A veteran of the Army, he served our country during WWII. He was a Non Commissioned Officer with the 57th Antiaircraft Artillery A.W. Battalion in the European Theater. He was responsible for the maintenance and preparation of all battalion personnel records, travel orders, transfers and special orders. He supervised 9 clerks and typists in preparing records and orders. He worked at Glen L Martin Co from 1938 to 1945 and Bethlehem Steel where he retired in 1982. A resident of Essex for 16 years and Joppatowne for 15 years, he enjoyed dancing and loved Big Band music, and was very handy with home improvements. He belonged to the Sons of Italy in Little Italy, Knights of Columbus-Baltimore Council, American Legion, VFW-Rosedale, and the Moose Lodge in Essex. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his family and many friends.

Mr. DiSeta is survived by two daughters, Gerry Sisselberger and her husband Pat of Bel Air MD and Phyllis Grymes and her husband Win, of Bel Air MD with whom he lived for the past five years; four grandchildren, Patti Murphy Dohn of Bel Air, MD, David Sisselberger of Belcamp, MD, Brian Sisselberger of Middletown, DE, and Ryan Grymes of Bel Air, MD; and seven great-grandchildren, Meighan Murphy of Bel Air, MD, Nicholas Sisselberger of Abingdon, MD, Joseph Murphy of Bel Air, MD, Christina Sisselberger of Abingdon, MD, Katie Murphy of Bel Air, MD, Zachary Sisselberger of Middletown, DE, and Colby Sisselberger of Middletown, DE.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister Rita DiSeta, and brothers Frank DiSeta and Eugene DiSeta.

Pallbearers were David Sisselberger, Brian Sisselberger, Ryan Grymes, Nick Sisselberger, Joseph Murphy, and Charlie DiSeta.
