JoAnne Miller Kilby, age 78, of Bel Air, MD, died on April 9, 2010 at her home. Born in Laurel Springs, NC, she was the daughter of the late James Horton and Pauline Woody Miller and wife of the late Robert Donald Kilby.
Mrs. Kilby graduated from Sparta High School and then attended Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. She was married in 1957 and spent many happy years living in North Wilkesboro, Winston Salem and Greensboro, North Carolina. Over the years she enjoyed traveling through out the United States, as well as to Hong Kong, Japan, and France. In 1976 she and her family moved to Bel Air where she quickly became known for her southern style of entertaining. Her interests included cooking, reading, and sporting events. Mrs. Kilby was a devoted mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend to many.
Mrs. Kilby is survived by her son, R. Bryan Kilby and his wife, Janie, of Street, MD; daughter, Donna Kilby Decker and her husband, Mark, of Bel Air, MD; brother, James Miller of North Carolina; sister, Lucille King of North Carolina; and grandchildren, Mark Stephen Decker Jr., Natalie Kilby Decker, Sarah Catherine Kilby, Caroline Grace Kilby and Elizabeth Reeves Kilby.
Pallbearers were Mark Decker, Stephen Decker, Bill Stifler, Ken Chilcoat, Larry Jones and Jamie Reeves.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to First Presbyterian Church, 224 N. Main Street, Bel Air, MD 21014.
