Joanna Tillman-McIntosh, age 65, of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, passed away on June 23, 2024. Born in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Jay and Betty (Burrell) Tillman and the beloved wife of 19 years to Charles S. McIntosh.
Joanna proudly served as a veteran of the U.S. Army. She dedicated 25 years of her life to her career as a clinical care nurse, providing compassionate care to her patients. Joanna was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Aberdeen, where her faith and community involvement were central to her life.
Joanna had a zest for life and enjoyed shopping, watching movies, attending concerts—especially jazz concerts—and, most importantly, taking care of her family. Her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.
In addition to her husband, Joanna is survived by her daughters, Jamielyn Carter, Maya Carter, and Courtney McKay; three stepdaughters; one stepson; ten step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; her sister, Lillian Gory; her cousin, Steven Barnes; and her niece, Nicole Hadden.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Tillman.
