Joan Van Scoyk Armstrong

Joan Van Scoyk Armstrong, a resident of Abingdon, MD, died at the age of 88 on October 19, 2016 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. She was born in Sandusky, OH to the late Elizabeth Stuart (Sampsell) Van Scoyk and Eugene Marshall Van Scoyk.

She was a member of Centre United Methodist Church in Forest Hill, MD since 1963 and spent much time in Fellowship Groups. For 10 years, she had a charismatic fellowship out of their house in Box Hill North when it was the Niblet Farm. She liked gardening and reading and had raised two of her grandchildren. She was a former resident of Cleveland, OH and Rochester, NY.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert D. Armstrong; her daughters, Wanda J. Wilkening (Arne) of North East, Claudia L. Callis (the late Michael) of Louisville, KY and Robin A. Carter (Douglas) of Fallston; her sons, Matthew J. Armstrong (Dawn) of Joppa and Russell E. Armstrong of Ocean City; her daughter-in-law, Louise Armstrong of Delta, PA; her twin sister, Jean Bowles; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son, Kimble John Armstrong.
