Joan W. Stech

Joan W. Stech, age 92, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on September 26, 2024. Born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John and Martha (Nye) Short and the beloved wife of the late John P. Stech.

Joan grew up in Pennsylvania, where she met her husband, John. After moving to Maryland, she raised her family and later worked for the State of Maryland until her retirement. A devout member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, Joan was actively involved in the Legion of Mary, where she held various positions and made a lasting impact on her community.

A talented artist, Joan enjoyed creating and sharing her own Christmas cards, a reflection of her thoughtful and generous nature. In recent years, she moved to Brightview Senior Living, where she continued to nurture her passion for art and was cherished by her many friends there.

Joan loved her family deeply and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Martha Anne Vinyard; son, John Kevin Stech and his wife Carol Ann Stech; her sister, Marcia Kawer; her brothers, John Nye Short and Mark Charles Short; and her grandchildren, Gregory P. Vinyard, Jr., Jason P. Vinyard, Lori Vinyard Chase, and Melissa N. Parker.
