Joan Maclauchlan Tapley, age 91, of Hunt Valley, MD passed away on September 6, 2014 at Broadmead Assisted Living in Hunt Valley. Born in Kentville, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Roderick French and Marion Frink Maclauchlan and wife, for 51 years, of the late John Rathbone Tapley. She served in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service (the WRENS) in WWII. A homemaker, she volunteered for the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and was also a member of the Country Garden Club of Bel Air, Immanuel Episcopal Church in Glencoe and was an avid golfer.
Mrs. Tapley is survived by her son, Peter Tapley and wife, Susan B. of Florida; daughter, Margaret Alison Tapley of Bel Air; grandchildren, Peter R. Tapley of Chantilly, VA and Andrew H. Tapley of Bethesda; and great grandchildren, John, William and Andrew Tapley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Ruth Tapley Swanekamp.
A memorial service will be held at Broadmead Assisted Living on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 11 a.m.
