Joan L. Calder

Joan L. Calder, age 72, of Forest Hill, MD, died on February 16, 2014 at home. Born in Bel Air, she was the daughter of the late Hazel Wilderson Wells and William Calder. A lifelong resident of Harford County, she was a graduate of Bel Air High School and worked many years at Bata Shoe Company, Harford Systems, Fellows and Shear Perfection. She was a devoted and dedicated member of Stepney Faith Center Church in Aberdeen, MD. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed church, shopping, animals-especially her two dogs Sadie and Sophie, the outdoors and traveling to Disney. She will be remembered for many things, including her generosity to others and her ability to see the good in everyone and everything.

She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Tammy Vanarsdale of Forest Hill, her grandson, Scott Taylor and his wife, Brianna Taylor of Halethorpe; her granddaughter, Jordyn Vanarsdale of Forest Hill, her great-grandson, Cameron Taylor of Joppa and her great-granddaughter, Miranda Taylor of Halethorpe. She is also survived by two sisters, Elaine Evans of Joppa and Carolyn Wells-Auckland of Bel Air, three nieces, Robin Brocato, Donna Archer and Donna Hayes-Crawford. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, William "Buddy" Calder and Donald Calder.

Pallbearers will be Scott Taylor, Cameron Taylor, Tom Morris, Dave Sexton, William "Billy" Hicks, Steve Gilbert and Robert Rexroth.
