Joan Beverly Keller-Strong

August 29, 1941 — September 20, 2010

On September 20th, 2010, Joan B. Strong (nee Keller) beloved wife of husband, Wilson E. Strong, Sr. formerly having lived in Joppa, MD. They retired to Longs, South Carolina in 2005. She is survived by the following: She was the devoted mother of Karen Strunk Wentworth and Kathy Strunk Carver of Pennsylvania. Joan was stepmother to Jennifer Petrik of Abingdon, MD, and stepson, the late Wilson E. Strong, Jr., known as Skip, a Bel Air, MD Volunteer Fireman. An only dear Sister, Bobbi Rose (Keller) Tilley and spouse John H. Tilley of Perry Hall, MD. Joan had 8 grandchildren and various nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Wellington Wetzel Keller and Vesta Louella Reiner Keller.

She was a Foster Parent for the Dept. of Social Services in Philadelphia, PA with her former husband, Albert Strunk. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elk's Lodge #2011, Chula Vista, CA, and the Edgewood Lodge #2354 in Edgewood, MD, where she served as its President, Vice President, Sect. and Chaplain. Before retiring, Joan and her previous spouse, were members of several Elks Lodges, the Quaker City Yacht Club (Philadelphia, PA), and were former members of the Fallston Presbyterian Church on Route 152, Fallston, MD.

Joan worked for 11 years at Franklin Square Hospital, Baltimore County, MD in the Social Work Dept. as a secretary. While living in Philadelphia, PA she worked at The St. John Neuman Nursing Home and at the Nazareth Hospital in their records department.

Pallbearers are: Steven Wentworth, Son-in-Law of Yardly, PA, Edward Carver, Son-in-Law, of Bensalem, PA, Frank Petrik, Son-in-Law of Abingdon, MD, James P. Wentworth, Grandson, of Yardly, PA., Clinton C. Rose, III Nephew from Ohio, and John Gregory Rose, Nephew from South Carolina. Honorary Pallbearers are: Corporal, Steven L. Wentworth, Grandson stationed in Afghanistan, U.S. Marine Corp; Edward Carver, Jr, Grandson from Bensalem, PA and Benjamin D. Scarry, Great Nephew of Forest Hill, MD.
