Jethro A. Wolford departed this life on January 5, 2011, at the age of 92. He was born in Buckhannon, WV on November 21, 1918, the son of the late Jethro Alonzo Wolford and Myrtle Snyder Wolford.
During WWII, he became a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps and a B-17 Pilot in the 94th Bomb Group, 322nd Squadron, Eighth Air Force, stationed in Bury St. Edmonds, England, in 1944. He completed 35 missions.
When he returned home, he was employed by the Motor Freight Trucking Company in Baltimore for 25 years, and later worked for the U.S. Post Office, until he retired.
He is survived by his daughter, Frances M. Boyce of Bel Air, MD; his grandson, James Michael Boyce and his wife, Christine Boyce, of Bel Air, MD. He also leaves behind his sister, Virginia Lee Legg, of Crestline, OH and nephews, Gary Legg of Mansfield, OH and Charles Anderson and his wife, Sarah, of Essex, MD and many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Frances M. Zaworski Wolford, his brother, Charles R. Wolford, and sisters, Aleta Topol and Geraldine Anderson.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date in West Virginia.
