Jerry M. Burkins

November 25, 1944 — January 1, 2009

Jerry was born at the Fountain Green Hospital in Bel Air, MD on November 25, 1944. He was the beloved son of Charles "Buck" and Violet Burkins, and stepson of Roy Tucker, all of Forest Hill, MD. He has unfortunately succumbed to a devastating illness and died peacefully at his home in Port Deposit surrounded by his loving and dedicated family on the morning of January 1, 2009.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beth Burkins. He is also survived by his brothers, sister and their spouses, Rex and Susan Burkins, Jeff and Gale Burkins, and Linda and Bob Crabill.

Jerry cherished all his children. They are Kim McHenry, Cinnamon Bitner, Ginger Wischman, the late Charity Burkins, Candy Ewing, Shasta Coale, Buck Burkins, Zachary Burkins, Jennifer Morris, Jessica Smith, Amber Cox, and Gail Schroeter. He was also blessed with eighteen grandchildren.

Jerry was kind, caring, and compassionate. He lived his life to the fullest everyday. He never met a stranger. He was a Bel Air High School graduate, class of 1962 and the owner of Big Elk Carpet in Elkton. His interests included family, genealogy, gardening, cooking, and canning. He was also an avid collector. He enjoyed relaxing with his family at his cabin in Western Maryland.
