JEROME JOSEPH KAHL, age 89, of Abingdon, died in Mariner Health of Bel Air on April 21, 2005. Born in Baltimore County, he was the son of the late Henry W. and Catherine R. Butt Kahl. He was a carpenter and enjoyed woodworking, yard work and playing cards. A member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Bradshaw, he was always willing to help others. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Mr. Kahl is survived by his wife, Dorothy Darney Kahl; one son, James V. Kahl of Edgewood; two daughters, Catherine A. Keller of Abingdon and Mary M. Kahl of Frederick; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Jerome Joseph Kahl, Jr.; four brothers, James Kahl, Andrew Kahl, Matthew Kahl, and Gordon Kahl.
Pallbearers were: Scott Cochran, Marty Dickerson, Kathy Frank, Mark Haggerty, Teresa Haggerty, Joy Keller, Leigh Keller, and Adrian McNeely.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 320 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.
