Suddenly, on June 24, 2023, Jeffrey Shawn Woodard, age 49, of Edgewood, MD was taken into the arms of his Saviour, our lord Jesus Christ, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born in Baltimore, MD on September 3, 1973, he was the beloved son of Emery Gene Woodard and Norma J. [Gilroy] Woodard.
Jeffrey loved sports, played indoor and outdoor soccer as a youth, was chosen as Maryland’s “Bright Star” winner of that educational program and graduated from Edgewood High School 1993. While in high school, Jeffrey joined the U.S. Army, attended boot camp at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO during summer break of 11th grade. Following graduation he attended power generator school at Ft. Belvior, VA. He was then assigned to Ft. Hood, Killeen, TX. Following service at Ft. Hood, Jeff came to New Mexico and worked for Aramark Food Services at NMSU. Jeffrey returned to MD and worked for several Harford County plumbing companies. Jeff joined a construction crew that worked on the eastern shore. When that job was finished, he was hired at Macy’s Distribution Center, Joppa, MD. The beginning of Early Onset Dementia required that he no longer work. Jeffrey had many friends and was a good friend to many. He was a good citizen, voting and working when asked at the polls, and doing jury duty.
Jeffrey was a dedicated Ravens and Orioles fan. He collected all manner of Ravens, Orioles, and Yardbird memorabilia. He had jerseys of all his favorites, especially Ray Lewis, Joe Flacco, Lamar Jackson, Justin Tucker. He loved to attend live games with friends.
He also loved NASCAR and INDY CAR racing. His fav was Jimmie Johnson and Jeff loved his NASCAR jacket and wore it often.
Jeffrey also enjoyed Marvel and DC comics and movies and collected them, as well as a newer interest, Anime.
Jeffrey is survived by his parents and two brothers, Scott E. Woodard and David D. Woodard [Enjoli Norris], nephew Zachary D. Woodard, great niece Zoey Dawn Woodard. Uncles, Thomas Gilroy, Robin Kennedy, and Michael Kennedy. He is also survived by Uncle Stanley [Linda] Woodard; Aunts Norma DeGrafft, Peggy Gilroy Figgins; cousins Michelle [Mark] Hurt, Donald Figgins, and Michael [Myra] Figgins and many other cousins and dear friends.
Jeffrey was predeceased by maternal grandparents Marilyn Hall Kennedy [Michael], maternal great-grandparents George R. Hall [Nelle], paternal grandparents, Norman E. Gilroy, Ned D.Woodard and Hazel P. Freind Woodard, great-grandmother, Lollie Gilroy; and many beloved aunts and uncles.
Jeffrey, your wings were ready but our hearts were not. Forever loved and missed. Rest in Peace our dear Jeffrey.
