Jeffery Joe Reynolds (known to his friends/neighbors as “Mr. Jeffery”), was one of three children born to Blanche and Joe Reynolds (both resting in heaven), on August 12, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois.
Jeffery attended Charles P. Caldwell Public School and in 1980 graduated from Kenwood Academy. Jeffery also took classes at Loop College in Chicago, Illinois. He was baptized into the Catholic Religion as a young adult.
Jeffery lived in Chicago, Illinois until 2007, when he came to live with his sister Janet and brother-in-law Michael Lee in Abingdon, Maryland on a “temporary” basis. This became permanent in 2008.
After attending classes and job coaching, Jeffery initially worked at KFC/Taco Bell as a Maintenance Crew member. His final (and most rewarding) position was at Wegman’s Grocery Store in Abingdon, Maryland as a Helping Hands/Maintenance worker. Jeffery worked at Wegman’s for over 5 years and was employed by them at the time of his passing. Jeffery was always a dependable, hard-working employee, who was well known for his kind spirit and friendly manner.
Jeffery was an extremely warm, gentle and amazing man. He had a reputation for walking around the neighborhood, waving or tipping his hat at cars or to anyone he walked by. Jeffery became affectionally known as the “Mayor of Abingdon” because of this daily routine. He never hesitated to help anyone with anything that needed to be done.
Jeffery was suddenly called home on Saturday, July 15, 2023, to be with his mother (Blanche), father (Joe), sister (Juanita), brother (Anthony) and niece (Ashante’) who welcomed him with love and open arms. His passing was peaceful.
Jeffery leaves amazing memories and lots of good times in his years in Chicago, Illinois and Abingdon, Maryland. He will be forever cherished by his sisters Janet Lee (Michael), Marcine Wheeler, Lynda Reynolds, “special” sister Loretta Mitchell and niece/little sister Vanice (Niecey) Wheeler, his niece Jasmine Jones and nephew Brandon Reynolds. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, “special friends”, neighbors and co-workers who will always remember his wonderful smile and attitude.
