Jeffrey Hess, D.V.M.

Jeffrey Hess, D.V.M., age 73, of Abingdon, MD passed away on September 3, 2017 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of Marvin Lee Hess and Dorothy Ruth (Yontz) Koontz. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He received his Bachelor's degree and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State University and his Master’s Degree from Iowa State University. He retired in 2013 from his private practice, Veterinary Referral Hospital in Bel Air and went on to teach the Veterinary Technician Program at CCBC-Essex until his retirement in 2017. He was a member of the Chinese Christian Church of Baltimore and was very active in the Greater Harford Soccer Club. He enjoyed doing home improvement projects, cooking and working with computers.

Dr. Hess is survived by his wife of four years, Guizhen Zhou; daughters, Amy (John) Houpt of Bel Air and Carrie R. Hess of West Memphis, AR; son, Kevin L. Hess of Bel Air; granddaughter, Michelle Hess of Abingdon; three grandsons, Wyatt Houpt of Bel Air, Marcus and Emanjuel Saunders; and sister, Anita West of Colorado Springs, CO.
