Jeanne M. Bettinger

Jeanne M. (Page) Bettinger of Forest Hill passed away October 23, 2012 with her daughter holding her hand. She was 89.

Born in Johnson City, NY, Jeanne was raised in Syracuse, NY, a daughter of the late Vernet L. and Aileen A. Page. She graduated as class Salutatorian from North High School in 1941, continued her education at Powellson Institute, and later became an LPN. She married her high school sweetheart, Clarence Bettinger, in January 1943, a union that thrived until Clarence's death in 2001. Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Karen Marshall, of Forest Hill, and a son, David Bettinger (Terri) of Campbell, Ohio.

During the course of Clarence's employment with International Harvester the family lived in Syracuse, Auburn, and Utica, NY, Camp Hill, PA, Chicago, IL, and Cinnaminson, NJ. In each location Jeanne worked in administrative capacities and enjoyed giving time and energy to church and community activities. She led Brownie, Girl Scout, and Cub Scout groups, was a Band Parent, and sang in church and community choirs. She held various positions in church and civic groups.

When Clarence retired in 1979 the couple moved from New Jersey to spend winters in W. Melbourne, FL. They enjoyed summers at their Otter Lake home in the Adirondack Mountains.

In addition to her children, Jeanne is survived by three granddaughters, four great-grandsons, a niece, four nephews, and a sister, Elinor Sanderson of W. Melbourne, FL. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Bill Marshall, in January of 2012.

Memorial services will be held during the summer of 2013 in Otter Lake, NY, with interment taking place in Old Forge, NY.
