Jean ("Granny") Sturgill, 82, of Darlington, MD passed away on May 26, 2015 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Towson, MD, she was the daughter of the late Luther Irving Jourdan and Aneita Englar Jourdan. She had worked as a seamstress for Glen Eagles Sewing Factory and was a member of Emory United Methodist Church in Street. She loved her family and enjoyed swimming, the beach, sewing, working jigsaw puzzles and crocheting.
Mrs. Sturgill is survived by her husband of 65 years, Henry Darrel Sturgill Sr.; sons, Henry D. Sturgill Jr. of Whiteford and Timothy L. Sturgill of Churchville; daughters, Pat Sturgill and Kathy Krout both of Abingdon, Sandy Sexton of Darlington and Jeanine Worthington of Port Deposit; brothers, Larry Jourdan of Dublin and Jimmy Jourdan Sr. of Hickory; sisters, Doris Thompson of Pylesville, Betty Brown of Bluefield, WV and Susan Dolinger of Mouth of Wilson, VA; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Luther "Boots" Jourdan.
A Memorial Service will be held at Emory United Methodist Church in Street, MD at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emory Methodist Church, P.O. Box 94, Street, MD 21154 in memory of Jean Sturgill.
