JAY D. DUNCAN, age 79, of Bel Air, died in Mariner Health of Bel Air on July 12, 2004. Born in West Jefferson, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Flake Evans and Gertrude Jones Duncan. He was a skilled cabinet maker and machinist. He helped his father construct a scale model working steam locomotive that operated at Flying Point Park where he was the engineer on weekends. He was an active member of the Hit and Miss Gasoline Club. He enjoyed flying at Aldino Airport and got his private pilots license in the early 1960’s. He owned two vintage airplanes, Aronica Champ and Piper Tri-Pacer.
Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hazel N. Vandyke Duncan; one son, Jerry D. Duncan of York, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Diane L. Thomas of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Thomas Duncan of Fruitland, Maryland; three sisters, Pebble Grogan of Salisbury; Betty Luznar of Ormond Beach, Florida; and Mary Podkul of Newark, Delaware; and three grandchildren, Andrew R. Thomas, Megan L. Thomas and Joshua Duncan Thomas, all of Denver, Colorado.
Pallbearers were: Vernon Viers, Jeff Flynn, Bob Boham, Harold Blevins, Bruce Caudill, and Jim Kelly.
