Janice M. McCarthy, 88, of Belcamp, Maryland, passed away on February 13, 2025, at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium, Maryland. Born in Juniata, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Valentine and Maude (Brown) Lilly and the beloved wife of 67 years to the late Richard J. McCarthy, who lovingly referred to her as "My Beauty."
A devoted Catholic, Janice was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church. Additionally, Janice and her husband Richard were Third Order Franciscans for many years. She was deeply family-oriented, creating cherished family photo albums and filling her home with warmth, love, and the aroma of her wonderful cooking. She was an avid gardener with a special love for roses, an artist who found beauty in painting, and photographing flowers, and a kind soul who delighted in feeding the birds and squirrels. A loyal friend and a nurturing presence, Janice was the best and most caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother anyone could ask for. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Janice is survived by her daughters, Kristie McCarthy of Belcamp, MD, Lisa (Allen) Reinhart of Bernville, PA, Teri (Kelly) Cessna of Jarrettsville, MD, and Shawn Wenig of Perry Hall, MD; Daughter in law, Kim McCarthy of Chester, MD; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, brother, Richard Lilly; sisters, Mary Tomlinson, Kathleen Szuhaj, and Paula Miller.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard B. McCarthy, brother, Thomas Lilly, and sister, Patricia Verbeek, and son-in-law George Wenig.
