Janice M. Sheridan, age 98, of Bel Air, Maryland was welcomed by her heavenly father on May 19, 2023 at the home of her daughter in Wooster, Ohio. Jan was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Born in Castle Shannon, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of George and Mary (Hoffman) Meuschke and wife of the late Walter W. Sheridan. Jan greeted friends and customers at her family’s business, The Country Garden Center on Creswell Road in Bel Air, for 40 years. Jan graduated from the University of Pittsburgh as a Physical Education major in 1946. In later years she went on to receive her Master Gardener certification at Longwood Gardens. Jan was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts of America, because of her leadership and outstanding service, she was awarded one of their highest honors, the Thanks Badge. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Bel Air. Jan enjoyed spending time with family, golfing with her grandsons, vacations at the beach, visiting with friends, reading, and cheering for the Steelers.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Judith S. Jackwood of Wooster, OH; grandchildren, Kristen (Nick) Caulier, Ryan W. Jackwood, Steven (Joshlin) Sheridan, Matthew Sheridan, Lindsay (Steven) Payne and Emma Sheridan; and great-grandchildren, Zoey Caulier, Quinn Caulier and Nora Payne.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Stanley Albert Sheridan, daughter-in-law Susan B. (Halsey) Sheridan, and sister, Jeannie Meuschke.
