JAMES WAYNE BENNETT, age 44, died on January 4, 2003. A native Harford Countian, Mr. Bennett graduated from Bel Air High School in 1977. After studies at Harford Community College, he was employed in waste water management in Harford County and Ocean City, Maryland. He continued studies in Biology and Chemistry at Wor-Wic Community College and Environmental Engineering at Del-Tech College. He was certified as a Waste Water Supervisor and as a member of the Emergency Management Team (EMT). In 1999, family illness led to his return to the Baltimore area. At the time of his death he was employed by Baltimore Country Club as a landscape supervisor on the golf courses.
Family and friends said he loved and served God and his fellow man. He was a loyal friend with a big heart. He loved nature and adored his Labrador retrievers running them on beaches and fields. Generous to a fault, he loved every one of his family members. He never met a stranger and lived an unselfish life. He treasured giving life to old automobiles. In times of need he always found ways to help.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his mother, Rachel Holmes Cruzan, who was an English teacher at BAHS, now of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; three brothers, William H.H. Bennett ; H. Allen Bennett ; Lawrence W. Bennett, all of the greater Baltimore area; two surviving sisters, Mary Leslie Radcliff of Proctorville, Ohio; and Rachel Folline Yeager of Baltimore. Predeceasing are his father Ronayne Waldron “Wally” Bennett and Julia Anne Montague Bennett Stamper, his younger sister. He is also survived by an aunt, Mary Holmes Schafer of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and an uncle, H.A. “Pat” Bennett of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.
