JAMES THOMAS SWISHER, SR. , 76, of Essex, died at Franklin Square Hospital, Rossville, MD on August 15, 2003. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late James Spiddle and Margaret M. Weitzel Swisher. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. Upon completion of duty he went to law school under the G.I. Bill. In 1985 he retired from the State of Maryland Comptrollers Office where he was an attorney and has enjoyed a long retirement playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Swisher is survived by his wife of 53 years who was also his high school sweetheart, Blanche M. Spliedt Swisher; one son, James Thomas Swisher, Jr. and his wife, Anna Dolina of White Marsh; two sisters, Margaret Onorato of Bel Air and Grace Herold of Perry Hall; two granddaughters, Samantha Swisher and Abigail Swisher both of White Marsh. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Robert Swisher.
