JAMES THOMAS “MICKEY” RUMSEY, age 80, of Darlington, MD, died October 16, 2006 at his home. Born in Bel Air, MD, he was the son of George Willard and Dora Griffin Rumsey and the husband of the late Irene Virginia Presberry Rumsey. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was an ammunition handler who worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground for 38 years. After retirement he remained very active in the community, always there to lend a helping hand. He was a member of the American Legion Post #55 and the Masons. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and throwing horseshoes.
Mr. Rumsey is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Lawerence Rumsey of Darlington, MD, and Steven Craig Rumsey and his wife Rachel L. of Bel Air, MD; three grandchildren, Tanisha Brown and her husband Kevin D. of Abingdon, MD, Shyala C. Rumsey of Bel Air, MD, and Nicole L. Rumsey of Aberdeen, MD; five great grandchildren, Dante L. Brown, Kameron T. Brown, and Keira T. Brown, all of Abingdon, MD, and Shalen A. Moore and Tyson M. Bynum both of Bel Air, MD; one sister, Susie Tildon of Bel Air, MD; and two sisters-in-law, Erma Rumsey of Bel Air, MD, and Evelyn Bond of Darlington, MD.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Rumsey was predeceased by three brothers, Henry Rumsey, Lawrence Rumsey, and Eugene Rumsey; and eight sisters, Hannah Rumsey, Evelyn Rumsey, Hattie Rumsey, Catherine Smith, Marguerite Rumsey, Mary Rumsey, Mary Rumsey, Gladys Rumsey, and Viola Rumsey.
