James Robert Tawney, age 85, of Bel Air, MD, passed away Friday afternoon, January 24, 2025, surrounded by family. Affectionately referred to as “Jim,” he was born August 11, 1939, in Parkersburg, WV. He was the son of the late Robert and Mildred Tawney.
Jim attended Annunciation Catholic Church, he served our country in the Air National Guard, played bugle for the Yankee Rebels Drum & Bugle Corp, he worked at Enterprise Electric until his retirement and enjoyed 50 years of marriage to the love of his life, Marge. He enjoyed reading, history and sports, especially his Baltimore Colts! In retirement, he loved spending time with his friends, family and especially his daughter, grandsons and beloved dog, Abby. He will be remembered as a "true gentleman" who was kind to all and could always make you smile with his quick wit.
Jim is survived by his wife, Margaret Tawney of Bel Air, his daughter, Lisa Tawney Scheuerman and his son-in-law, Charles Edward Scheuerman Jr. of Kingsville, and his grandsons Jeremy Edward Scheuerman and Joseph James Scheuerman of Kingsville. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Jim was known in his life to always have a dog and brought home several strays over the years. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in the name of James Robert Tawney to the Humane Society of Harford County, 2208 Connolly Rd. Fallston, MD 21047.
