James Stephens

James Stephens age 93 of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on September 2, 2023, with his wife of seventy years by his side. Born in Barnett, Missouri he was the son of William L. Stephens and Eliza Belle Gee. He served in the United States Army for over twenty years and was a Korean War Veteran. He retired from the Internal Revenue Service as Chief Technical Staff General Manager in 1988. 

James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Nancy Stephens and tenderly by his family. Son-in-law Morton Katz. James’s daughters Pamela (Doug) Hill, JoAnn (Jim) Gerkin, and Paula (Michael) Bandy-Feehley. Grandchildren Erin (Dan) Augustyniak, James Gerkin Jr., Stephanie (Thomas) Smith, Ryan (Lacey) Bandy, David Katz and Alexis Feehley. Step grandchildren Larry and Jeff Hill. Great grandchildren Sara, Thomas, Angelo, Joseph, Sullivan, and Walker. He is survived by many of his loving family, along with special mentee and friend Karen McNeill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his eldest daughter Patricia Katz. Siblings William Stephens, Viola Sullenger, Itaska McGuffey, JoAnn Smith, and Peter Stephens.

A private service will be held at the family’s request.
