James Roger Simmons

James Roger Simmons, age 69, of Joppa, MD, passed away on October 17, 2011 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Technical Sergeant James Underwood Simmons and Margaret Catherine Miller Simmons Preston and stepson of the late Kenneth Preston. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a resident of Harford County and a very active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, for 44 years. He was employed for 30 years at Honeywell Corporation where he was a Senior Program Analyst. He was also a volunteer at the Sharing Table in Edgewood, and an instructor at the Chesapeake Wooden Boat Builder's School at the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum, where he placed boats on display.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce Ann Simmons (nee Kline) of Joppa, MD; sons, Michael D. Simmons of Joppa, MD, Brian J. Simmons and wife, Kristen, of Abingdon, MD and Mark A. Simmons and wife, Chastity, of Joppa, MD; and grandchildren, Ashley, Hailey, and Quincie.
