James Robert Smith, Sr.

July 10, 1946 — April 7, 2005

JAMES ROBERT SMITH, SR., age 58, of Darlington, died at his residence on April 7, 2005. Born in Saltville, Virginia, he was the son of the late James Edmonson and Annie Mae Wyatt Smith. He worked as a carpenter. He moved to Harford County when he was 16 years old and began working construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. He was dedicated to his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Lee Whichard Smith; one son, James Robert Smith, Jr. of Middle River, Maryland; two daughters, Jeanie Mae Arrison of Darlington, Maryland and Marcie Lee Smith of Bel Air, Maryland; one brother, Fred Smith of Edgewood, Maryland; seven sisters, Gracie Anderson of Marion, Virginia, Martha Jones of Rural Retreat, Virginia, Liz Ewald of Marion, Virginia, Mary Jones of Marion, Virginia, Margaret Osborne of Marion, Virginia, Glenna Baldwin of Durham, North Carolina, and Patty Nunley of Pounding Mill, Virginia; and nine grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Jeffrey Smith, and one sister, Nancy McGrady.
