James Paul McLaughlin, age 98, of Abingdon, Maryland passed away on July 15, 2020 at in Abingdon, Maryland. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, he was the son of Joseph and Florence (Farmer) McLaughlin and husband of the late Gloria (Cirino) McLaughlin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division during World War II. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Abingdon. He was employed by Diamond State Telephone Company retiring after 39 years of service. James enjoyed woodworking and making things for his grandchildren, camping, traveling, reading, and was an avid walker and enjoyed exercising.
James is survived by his daughter, Michelle Kahl of Abingdon and her husband, Paul; son, Joseph McLaughlin of Buffalo, NY and his wife, Cindra; two granddaughters, Colleen McLaughlin and Allison Kahl-Chavis; two grandsons, Evan Kahl and Daniel McLaughlin; and brother, Eugene McLaughlin.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Frances, Joe, Thomas, Willard and Theresa.
