JAMES MONROE STEELMAN, age 65, of Orlando, Florida, died in New York Downtown Hospital in New York City on December 28, 2005. Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, he was the son of the late Eugene Fletcher and Oda Rose Edwards Steelman. He worked for J. M. Huber in Havre de Grace prior to moving to Florida on July 12, 1971. James graduated from Bel Air High School in 1959. He was the owner-operator of J & S Concrete in Orlando, Florida. When he was semi-retired, he continued to work for Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed great bargains that he found at auctions, yard sales, or free was always best. He loved being an official for high school football for more than 15 years. He was a wonderful generous man.
Mr. Steelman is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Jean Anderson Steelman; one son, James Monroe Steelman II and his wife, Cheri of Orlando, FL; two daughters, Jeanetta J. Copeland and her partner, Noreen M. Long of Orlando, FL; Joy Lynn Steelman and her fiancé, Francesco Pizza of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren, James Monroe Steelman III, Christian Michael Copeland, Chantelle Cheri Steelman, and Shelby Jane Copeland all of Orlando, FL; one great-grandson, Nicholas Cole Thompson of Palm Bay, FL; five brothers, Alvin Steelman of Havre de Grace, William Steelman of Bel Air, Johnny Steelman, Ronnie Steelman, and Larry Steelman, all of Havre de Grace; two sisters, Peggy Fink of Bel Air and Marie Anderson of Havre de Grace and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Patty Sue Steelman and one brother, Roger Lee Steelman.
