James Leroy Rupert, age 90, of Naples, FL passed away on March 18, 2017. Born in Renovo, PA, he was the son of James McKem Rupert and Martha (Kelley) Rupert and was the husband, for 60 years, of the late Gladys Rupert. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served our country during WWII as a gunners mate on the USS Dayton and received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon.
He was a member of the VFW in Jarrettsville, a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he held many leadership positions and is a current member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Naples FL. He worked for 42 years at JJ Haines Company where he began his career as a warehouseman, working his way up to Vice President of Operations. It was there that he was instrumental in the development and implementation of computer technology within the company. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed going to Bethany Beach, DE; most of all he loved being around people.
Mr. Rupert is survived by his son, J. Paul Rupert and wife, Cindy, of Bel Air; daughters, Joan R. Robertson of Bel Air, Jean R. Smetana of Holly Springs, NC and June Chocklett and husband, Andy, of Daleville, VA; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was a tremendous role model: a generous, loving, and dedicated husband and father who lived his life well.
