James R. Leonard, age 72, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on June 9, 2017 at his home. Born in Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Harold Clifford and Lola Ethel (Anderson) Leonard and was the husband of the late Virginia Kathryn Leonard. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served our country during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2006 from Aberdeen Proving Ground where he worked as a machinist in the Army Research Lab. He was a member of Bel Air Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, traveling, and working on his cars. He also had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening.
Mr. Leonard is survived by his sons, James R. Leonard, II of Abingdon and Raymun B. Leonard of Bel Air; grandchildren, Alyssa Leonard of Abingdon and Adam Walters of Hickory; sister, Linda Milburn of Frederick; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Leonard.
