James Leon Whittington Sr., age 70, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on August 23, 2014 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. Born in Bel Air, he was the son of the late James and Corinna Gwynn Whittington. He worked for 45 years as a Roll Off truck driver, loved race cars and enjoyed working with motors. He liked sports, especially basketball, which he had played at the Central Consolidated School in Hickory. He enjoyed watching TV and spending time with his family.
Mr. Whittington leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 22 years, Agnes Diann Whittington; daughter, Amanda Whittington of Aberdeen; stepson, George Kenneth Xakellis and wife, Cynthia, of Havre de Grace; and grandchildren, Tyler, Carley and Alicia. Also survived by four sisters-in-laws, Josena, Violetta, Delores and Beverley; brothers-in-law, Terry, Earnest, Howard, Steven and Jeffery; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Leon Whittington Jr.; his brother, Douglas Jordan; sister-in-law, Theresa; and brother-in-law, Dale.
Pallbearers will be Terry Edwards, Ernest Gladden, Timothy Stokes, Kevin Gladden, Wayne Jordan and Brian Sutton.
