He was a devoted husband of 48 years to June (Davis) Frey. Beloved father of Christina Ross (husband David) of Shelton, WA and Paula Miller (husband Dwayne) of Joppa, MD. Loving Grandfather to Aric Miller, Nicholas Miller (wife Carey), Amanda Miller, Jacynda Woodman-Ross, Christian Sagandoy, Rachael Miles, Leila Miles, Savannah Sagandoy, Johnathan Saganadoy and great-grandfather to Roslyn Eckenrode and Ryker Miller. Jim was born in Havre de Grace, MD and grew up on Otter Point Dairy Farm off of Freys Rd in Edgewood. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1968. Jim worked for 30 years for Harford County Government Department of Public Works. He had a strong connection to the natural world. Many days were spent fishing, hunting, and trapping on the Bush River. Due to this love of nature, he became a skilled decoy carver. Jim was recognized by his fellow decoy makers; the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum, and the Upper Bay Museum both of which he was a lifetime member. After “whittling away” from decoys, Jim turned his passion to creating model boats of the Chesapeake Bay from scraps of wood and pieces of canvas.
