James Forrest Furgason, age 86, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on September 15, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Born in Haines Falls, New York, he was the son of the late Orville and Marion (Lehman) Furgason and the beloved husband of Barbara (Griffin) Furgason.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a man deeply patriotic, James was known for his strong work ethic and skills as an accomplished electrician, working many years for Bethlehem Steel. His family was his world, and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who took pride in providing for his loved ones and creating joyful memories, always making time to play with his children and grandchildren.
James had a zest for life, enjoying good food, fine wine, and walking two miles daily. He also had a love for animals, especially his dogs and granddogs, whom he treated like family. He was an avid reader of the Wall Street Journal, keeping up with the world every morning, and he made sure the coffee pot was always prepped for his wife.
James is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Valerie Campbell; son, James "Butch" Edward Furgason; and grandchildren, Luke Griffin Furgason and Roran James Furgason. He was preceded in death by his son, Darrin Paul Furgason.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the ASPCA.
