James E. Russell Jr.

James E Russell Jr., age 69, known as Bro by family and close friends and Pop to his kids and grandson, of Abingdon, Maryland passed away on May 3, 2018. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he was the son of James Edward Russell Sr. and Jessie Lois (Grier) Russell. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country during the Vietnam War, and for 28 years he worked for the Baltimore County Fire Department at Station 5. Some of James fondest memories were spending time in Georgia with his grandparents on the farm. James also loved sports and enjoyed watching his two sons play and later coach.

Mr. Russell is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mowana Russell; two sons, James (J.J.) Russell, III and Jeremy Russell; 1 grandson, J’von Russell; four sisters, Carolyn Russell, Rosalind (Dee) Fowlkes, Gwendolyn (Gwyn) Russell and Precious (Patti) Russell; brothers-in-law, Maurice Wells (Geraldine), Benson Wells and Joseph Debnam (Linda) all of Baltimore. Also by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe (Buck) Grier and grandparent’s.
