James Donald Hughes

November 8, 1931 — February 2, 2013

James Donald Hughes, age 81, of Fallston, MD, passed away on February 2, 2013 at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium, MD. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late James J. and Mary Hughes. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served for ten years in the Army Reserves and was active in the program to land planes on aircraft carriers by computer. He graduated from LaSalle University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He liked astronomy and enjoyed playing bridge and making his own wine. He retired to Florida so that he could be near his sister, Patricia.

Mr. Hughes is survived by his son, James Hughes and his wife, Kim Snider, of Aiken, SC; daughters, Eileen Hughes of Hatboro, PA, Joyce Hughes of Altoona, PA and Catherine Wheeler of Fallston; brothers, Joseph, Terry and Daniel Hughes; sister, Mary LaMarche; grandchildren, Eileen Ray, Kerri Wheeler and Carolyn Wheeler and grandson, Josh Roland; and great-grandson, Milo Skywalker Ray. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John Hughes; and sisters, Patricia Curtis, Catherine Stojanov and Bernadette McGonigle.
