JAMES CHARLES ANDERSON, SR., age 83, of Overlea, Maryland, died at his daughter’s home in Edgewood on April 9, 2003. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Anna Theresa Dennis Anderson. The youngest of 16 children, he had retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation in 1981 where he had been an ironworker for 43 years. He served his country in U.S. Marine Corp. during WW II aboard the U.S.S. Bennington aircraft carrier in the Pacific Campaign. He was a member of the Rosedale V.F.W., a past president of the 14th District Democratic Club, and a member of the Catholic War Veterans. He enjoyed crafting things out of wood.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Gertrude Kimpel Anderson; two sons, James C. Anderson, Jr. and his wife, Deborah M. Anderson of Lutherville; William T. Anderson and his wife, Brenda J. Anderson of Baltimore; two daughters, Margaret G. Emge and her husband, Charles A. Emge, Sr. of Edgewood; Mary R. Anderson of Rainelle, West Virginia; one brother, William T. Anderson of California; six grandchildren, Charles A. Emge. Jr of Bel Air; James C. Emge of Bel Air; James C. Anderson, III of Atlanta, Georgia; Margaret G. Emge of Abingdon; Christine M. Anderson of Baltimore; Mark Anderson of Baltimore; four great-grandchildren, Justin A. Emge; Patrick R. Emge; Kelly A. Emge; Eric M. Emge all of Bel Air. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
